Our Story
Our Johnson County Breastfeeding Coalition was established in 2019 to commit to earning the Breastfeeding Friendly Community Designation by the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition. We want to show families that our county encourages and supports the use of human milk. We want to bring community members together to show their support. We want to identify barriers to lactation in our community and create a plan to overcome. Our founding meeting brought together a variety of community support systems. We mapped out what was working, what wasn't working and where improvement was needed. Since then, we have been steadily working on breastfeeding visibility in our community by providing information at various community events, serving lactating families with our nurturing nook tent to provide a place for parents to come and feed their littles, sponsoring a community walk, supporting human milk depots, educating child care providers on how to support their breastfeeding families and so much more! We are excited to see how our next chapter unfolds and we hope you will join us!
Who We Are

We come together as a collective group of passionate superheros advocates who protect and support breastfeeding, pumping and super human milk use in our community. Masked Members represent maternal child outreach, hospital systems, lactation consultations, dieticians, pediatric nurses, child care surveyors and providers, WIC, health department, early intervention care providers, business owners, doulas, and families. Representation matters. It matters in the community and in the support given. We encourage anyone who supports our secret mission to join us because we ARE better together!
